Darren Mansaram (born: 25 June 1984) is a striker who signed for Dundalk in January 2009 after being approached by his former Sligo Rovers and Bohemians boss Sean Connor. Mansaram, a native of Doncaster in England, began his career at Grimsby Town and later played for Halifax Town, York City, Tamworth and Worksop Town. Darren came to Ireland for the first time in 2006 when Connor signed him for Sligo’s return to the Premier Division and he was the club’s top scorer as the Bit O’ Red finished fifth.
Shortly before the end of that season, however, Connor departed to join Bohs and Mansaram was one of his first signings at Dalymount Park. After the arrival of Pat Fenlon as manager for the 2008 season, though, the striker found himself unable to nail down a place in the first team and, as a result, he left in the July transfer window. Darren soon moved back to England and joined Leigh Genesis. He scored three times before leaving at the end of the year when he joined Retford United for a short spell. It was not long before he rejoined forces with Connor, however, as he arrived at Dundalk in January. He made his club debut in the opening night defeat by Bohemians at Oriel Park on 6 March and scored his first goal for the Lilywhites a fortnight later in a 3-0 home win over Drogheda United.
