Michael Synnott (born: 20 January 1987) is a versatile left-sided player who signed for Dundalk in April 2009 after being released by Ipswich Town, who he joined after coming out of Home Farm. The 22-year-old signed for Ipswich in 2004, after turning down offers from Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Charlton Athletic, and stayed there until near the end of the 2007/08 campaign when he was released by the club. In limbo thereafter, Michael went on trial at Luton Town and later trained with Bohemians. Finally, he found a club when Sean Connor approached him to come to Oriel Park, and after a short trial the Dubliner signed. Synnott made his debut for Dundalk just hours after completing the deal when putting in an eye-catching display in the 1-0 win over Derry City at the Brandywell on 24 April. He has represented the Republic of Ireland at all levels up to under-18.
