Benson: We Have To Be Confident

Robbie Benson believes the Lilywhites will get back to winning ways when they take on Drogheda United in the SSE Airtricity League on Friday night.

The midfielder gave his verdict on the season so far and expressed his disappointment on results going into the mid-season break.

‘It’s fair to say the first half of the season has been disappointing with us suffering far too many defeats.

‘We have to be confident in ourselves going to Drogheda although we’re expecting a very tough game in a tight ground,’ he told dundalkfc.com

‘They have been very good defensively over the last few weeks and we’ll have to be at our best to break them down and come away with all 3 points.’

Having scored once in his 11 league appearances so far this season, the 25 year old reflected on his own personal performances and the mid-season training camp at Fota Island.

‘From my own point of view it was frustrating picking up an unfortunate injury which kept me out for a long period, but now that the break is over we have a chance to go on a run in the league with a lot of fixtures in a short period of time.

‘The training camp in Fota Island was very beneficial albeit tough! It gave us a chance to work on a lot of things and hopefully it will have the same effect on us as last year where we won several games in a row before Europe after a week in Portugal.’
