Connolly: Tough Work Ahead
Dylan Connolly is enjoying being back in training with the Lilywhites following his winter break and is now fully focused on building both fitness and form ahead of the start of the new campaign.
The winger was part of the group which returned to Oriel Park on Saturday and, as he completed the third training session back, he explains why he can’t wait to get going this year.
“It’s tough work but that’s pre-season for you. It’s really enjoyable getting in back to the lads so it’s good to be back.
“Pre-season is all about hard running and a lot of the time it’s without the ball. It’s really to get the fitness levels up and the endurance levels up. It’s hard work and it’s not enjoyable but that’s the hard work that has to be done.
“It’s a proper professional set-up at Dundalk. Everything is there for us – it’s proper compared to some other clubs I’ve been at. The professional side of it is class.
“Our aim for the season is to obviously be as competitive as we can. We’ll try to compete for the league and all domestic cups, then do well in Europe too. Hopefully for myself, I can hit the ground running.
“I had an injury last year but I’m getting fit now so hopefully I can kick on and score some goals this season.”
