Quiz League

The DFC Trust launched a new monthly Quiz League in February.

The quiz started out at Kennedy’s Bar, where ‘The Johnsons’ took an early lead in the race for €300, and moved on to The Jockeys in March, with ‘Rod’s Disco Ball’ continuing their good form to shoot to the top of the table.

Despite finishing second at Byrnes’ in April, they maintained their lead at the top of the table.

The quizzes, which saw 20, 14 and 17 teams turn out respectively, were the first of nine lined up on the first Thursday of each month in venues around the town, with the tenth and final round to be held in Oriel Park in November.

Each event is an individual general knowledge quiz that can be enjoyed on its own with €100 up for grabs, or you can build up points over the course of the year for the overall prize of €300.

The current top ten is listed below.

Round Five takes place in McGeoughs, Roden Place on Thursday 7 June.

Ahead of the launch, Seán Cotter, of the DFC Trust, said: “This is a new initiative that we are starting this year as we want to bring the club out more into the community.

“We will begin in Kennedy’s before moving to other venues around the town, on the first Thursday of every month.

“We hope to build up a regular crowd for the quizzes and we would encourage as many Dundalk supporters as possible to organise a team or two.”

Entry to each round is just €20 for a team of four, with finger food served.
