Folan Aiming For Win In Bray
Dundalk centre-half Stephen Folan was pleased to get through to the EA SPORTS Cup quarter-finals on Monday evening but admitted to dundalkfc.com that the performance could have been better in Inchicore.
“It was good for players like myself who needed the game time and we showed a good bit of character after falling behind twice to come back to level it. 3-2 down and then 4-3 to come back twice. Some of us aren’t happy with how we played individually and as a team but we haven’t played together in so long.
“To get through was the most important thing. Penalties are always 50-50 so to get through like that was good it keeps our winning run going. We are into the quarter-finals now and we are happy to get through the tie. There’s plenty of positives so we will focus on those.”
The Galway man is looking forward to the trip to Bray tomorrow evening but is anticipating another league game and knows that they have a lot of players who have quality despite their current league predicament.
“It’s going to be a difficult game in Bray. They took points off us in the first game of the season and they haven’t been performing as well as they would like to all the same. They have a lot of players who can hurt you and have experience in the league.
“It’s going to be another tough game. There are no easy games in the league. We know that so we have to go there and have to win. We have to keep the pressure on the other teams around us. We are only focused on ourselves and we will look at the others when the games are finished but we need to start well in Bray and hopefully we can come away with three points.”
