Folan: Standards Are Higher
New Dundalk centre-half Stephen Folan believes standards are higher at the club than what he has been used to. Speaking to dundalkfc.com he reflected on his firs week of pre-season.
“I feel good. I feel like I am getting better and fitter every day. The first day or two was a bit of a shock to the system because it’s different than what I was used to before. It’s a lot higher the standard than what I am used to.
“I am getting up to speed now I think and looking forward to pushing on. ”
The Galway native was full of praise for his new team mates and he feels they have helped him settle in quickly.
“It’s a great bunch of lads here at Dundalk and I have been made feel very welcome. It’s a great group – they are all 2very tight and close to each other which I think helps.
It’s good for me coming into that they have been fantastic. The tight groups has helped me bed in quickly and I am enjoying it.”
The hard part of pre-season is almost over for the players with the games starting next week and the 26 year-old is looking forward to the start of the matches hoping that it will lead to good preparation for the 2018 campaign.
“We have a week or so left of the really tough sessions but we have a game next week which is great and that’s your bread and butter. That is where you get your match fitness and sharpness up.
“Hopefully we can get a good week of pre-season games under our belt and hit the ground running. We have a lot of games in a short space of time but that’s good and it’ what to expect this time of year and we are looking forward to it.”
