Kenny: Creative and Confident
Stephen Kenny felt his players deserved a lot of credit against Drogheda United FC for showing their attacking quality, resulting a 4-0 win at Oriel Park.
The Lilywhites went in 2-0 up at the break against the Boynesiders after Michael Duffy opened the scoring on 5 minutes, with Dylan Connolly adding his second goal in 2 games with a screamer from outside the box.
Brian Gartland and David McMillan were the second half scorers leaving Kenny a happy man afterwards…
“I thought we played very well in the first half we played with a lot of confidence and created a lot of chances, the first two goals are very good goals,” the manager said.
“You can never take the derby for granted, especially in the Cup. I think the players deserve credit for the run of games that they’re on now. They’ve shown some really good form and are scoring a lot of goals.
“We are not relying on any individuals at the moment, we are scoring goals right throughout the team and hopefully that continues.
“There was a lot of good wing play tonight with pace on both flanks and that’s certainly an asset. There is a lot of potential there for this team to grow and get better, all the players have come in and settled in well.
“We’re playing well but we have to continue that until the end of the season.
“We want that level of consistency in all of the competitions in every week, we don’t want that to drop – I think that’s very important.”
