Physio Fearghal Kerin has left Dundalk Football Club.
Kerin joined as physiotherapist ahead of the 2015 season and was a key part of the backroom team as the Lilywhites went on to win two league titles in a row, the FAI Cup and an EA Sports Cup. He also made a crucial contribution during the historic European run last year in both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League as well as the other Champions League matches in 2015 and 2017.
Speaking to dundalkfc.com about Kerin’s departure manager Stephen Kenny paid tribute to the Offaly man for his efforts over the last 3 seasons.
“Fearghal Kerin has left Dundalk Football Club. The change in training times here and his ongoing commitments as chartered physiotherapist with Leinster Rugby it was difficult to combine the two duties.
“As manager I would like to thank Fearghal for his contribution to the club over the last three seasons. We have won two league titles with him and reached three FAI Cup Finals. The challenge in 2016 in the epic run with the 12 European games. It was a bigger challenge for him with games every three days for four months. It was an extremely hectic period and very challenging for all the staff and the players. He showed his level of expertise and experience during that time. I think Fearghal’s diagnosis was always excellent.
“He got the balance between always putting player welfare first and not caution for the sake of caution. The player always came first with Fearghal. He was an important part of the backroom team for the last three years. He invested a huge amount in his effort and commitment here. His commitments with Leinster are quite substantial.
“We want to thank him for his commitments over the last three years and we sincerely wish him well for the future.”
Everyone at Dundalk Football Club echoes Stephen’s sentiments and we would like to thank Fearghal for his hard work, commitment and professionalism over the past three seasons and we wish him well in all his future endeavours.
