New Signing: Kurtis Byrne Dundalk FC have tonight completed the signing of 22 year old striker Kurtis Byrne from Ross County. The young Dubliner began his career at Norwich City before moving to Hibernian. Byrne had loan spells at Stirling Albion, East Fife and Alloa during his time at Hibs. Recently Byrne has been loaned to Brechin City. Speaking to dundalkfc.com moments after putting pen to paper, Kurtis stated: “I have been away from home for a long time and I believed it was time for a new challenge in my career. I was delighted to get the call from Stephen and it didn’t take long for me to decide to join Dundalk”. Kurtis, who is the son of Paul Byrne who played for Dundalk in 2003 for a short period as well as Bohemians and Celtic FC, knows a few of his new team-mates already. “I know Richie Towell from my time in Scotland and I also played against Keith Ward when I was younger. Stephen has assembled a good side and I am very much looking forward to starting pre-season training with the lads.” Having started as a trainee with Norwich City at the age of just 16, Kurtis is anxious to begin his new phase of his career. “I was out on loan at Brechin recently and very much enjoyed it. I have gained a lot of experience but now I want to establish myself at Dundalk FC and show what I can do. My aim is to score goals and become an important part of Stephen’s team”.
