5 January 2010: HATSWELL ANNOUNCED AS PLAYER-COACH
Ian Foster has moved to confirm his new assistant and coach, with the signing of Wayne Hatswell on a two year contract as Player-Coach. Current player of the year with Cambridge United, the centre half has played previously with Ian Foster at both Chester City and Kidderminster Harriers. A regular this season at Cambridge United, Wayne will continue his playing career with Dundalk , which includes recently captaining England C to victory in a four nations tournament in 2008. In 2008 he scored the goal-of-the-season against a former club, Forest Green with a 40 yard free kick
Ian Foster told dundalkfc.com “Wayne is a player who leads by example both on and off the pitch. His leadership qualities are well recognised by the fact that he has been captain at most of his previous clubs. Wayne has operated coaching schools for Arsenal in his home town of Swindon, and has acquired all the necessary coaching badges. I expect Wayne to make a big impact at Dundalk both on the playing pitch and the training ground.”
