Dundalk and Drogheda United have agreed to retain the traditional format for the Jim Malone Cup with Thursday nights game being a decider over 90 minutes - with penalties if necessary to determine a winner on the night. The Malone family will be well represented on the night and will present the trophy to the winning captain in Oriel Park on Thursday night.
The proposal to play the fixture over two legs had been previously agreed by the two clubs in a gesture of mutual co-operation, and has now reverted back to its traditional format at the request of Drogheda Utd. Instead Dundalk have agreed to fulfill a separate friendly fixture against Drogheda United at United Park at a later date in the season.
The return to the original and traditional one-off decider should also ensure the normal eagerly contested encounter with Co Louth bragging rights at stake for both teams and supporters, and as normal should provide a fitting tribute to the memory of the late Jim Malone who contributed enormously to the development of both clubs.
Kick-off is scheduled for 7.45pm and the reduced admission costs will apply:
The adult admission price to the general ground is €10 with the stand €15, concessions (for Students and Senior Citizens) being €7 and €10 respectively, while children are €5.
A drinks promotion will take place between 6pm and kick-off time with all drinks in the Lilywhite Lounge at €3.
