Paul Walsh (born: 7 October 1988) is a versatile winger who signed for Dundalk on Monday 13 February.
Walsh previously spent time at Limerick and Waterford United, and currently works as a Sports Scientist with locally-based Statsports.
The 23-year-old, a native of Waterford, got his first taste of League of Ireland football in 2008 when he signed for Limerick, where he also studied in UL.
On the last day of that season, he played the full match as Limerick denied Shelbourne the First Division title with Colin Scanlan’s injury-time goal, which paved the way for Dundalk to make a return to the Premier Division following a seven-season absence.
In July 2009, he joined Waterford but after a short spell went to Australia. He returned to the RSC in September 2010 for the league run-in, as the Blues finished second to Derry City but missed out on promotion following a playoff semi-final defeat by Monaghan United.
Walsh rejoined Junior League club Waterford Bohemians later that month, and finished their season before arriving at the RSC for a third spell in June last year, going on to start 17 times in the league between then and the end of the campaign.
Having trained with the Dundalk squad during pre-season, Walsh became manager Seán McCaffrey’s 14th signing ahead of the 2012 season when he penned a one-year deal at Oriel Park on 13 February.
Walsh made his Lilywhites debut as a late substitute in a scoreless draw against Monaghan United at Gortakeegan on 2 March.
