Cian Byrne (born: 28 August 1993) is a central defender, who can also play at right-back, who joined Dundalk in June 2010.
Byrne started out at Cavan Town at the age of six, spending almost five years there. That was followed by a four-season spell at Monaghan United, before joining Malahide United in 2008.
In June 2010, ‘Bomber’ signed for Dundalk.
In his first season at Oriel Park, Byrne was part of the squad that were runners-up in both the DDSL Major 1 U17 Division and League Cup.
During that time, he made his first-team debut, against Monaghan in the League Cup at Gortakeegan in April 2011. With Dundalk struggling with injuries, Byrne got a full run in the senior team at the end of that season, starting the final ten games under Ian Foster.
