Gary Shanahan scored twice after Michael Rafter (pictured) netted the opener, as Dundalk got off to a winning start under Seán McCaffrey with a 3-0 victory over Banbridge Town at Crystal Park on Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, Dundalk were in control by the hour mark as half-time substitute Rafter, who has been training with the squad for the past three weeks, and Shanahan, one of McCaffrey’s earliest signings, found the net.
Shanahan completed the scoring 20 minutes from time, as the Lilywhites got their pre-season schedule off to a good start, with a total of 16 players given a run-out.
Dundalk now prepare for another test against IFA Championship 1 opposition as they travel to play Ballinamallard United at Ferney Park on Tuesday night (kick-off 7.45pm).
