Rogers Pleased With Form
Dundalk goalkeeper Gary Rogers told dundalkfc.com that he felt Friday night was a good night for the Lilywhites. The netminder was pleased with the display but feels that despite it being a 4-0 result, it wasn’t as easy as it may have looked from the outside.
“It wasn’t as easy as the 4-0 scoreline suggests. I think Limerick were well in the game for long periods. It was frustrating for us to get that first goal but it came just before the break and that settled things down for us.
“We put in a good solid performance to get the win. We managed to punish the mistakes on the night and counter attacked well so it was a good night for us. ”
Patrick Hoban netted a hat-trick on the night to aid the victory with the first coming just before the break and that sent Dundalk on their way to another victory, their seventh on the bounce in the league, and Rogers couldn’t hide his delight at the current form.
“The second goal is always important. That put us in a strong position. We get in full control then. We were comfortable after that and played some lovely football at times.
“We moved the ball well and created a lot of chances. It was a good win for us and we are pleased with the run that we are on. ”
The focus moves to Derry City on Friday now and with it being the final game before the break, the Meath man has targeted another victory at the Brandywell, to make it two wins on Foyleside in a month.
“We are happy with how we are playing and our defensive performances has been excellent. We are playing well at the minute and heading into the break.
“We have another difficult game on Friday. We know it won’t be easy going to Derry and they have good form up there but we won at the Brandywell a few weeks ago and we put in a great display so hopefully we can do the same and get another win. ”
