Simon Community Presentation
On Sunday the generosity of our supporters was shown as we raised 1,075 for Dundalk Simon Community. As a club, Dundalk FC have matched the sum and in total we donated 2,150 to the charity.
It was presented to the Dundalk Simon Community after training on Thursday afternoon and member Catherine Kieran, told dundalkfc.com, “We couldn’t survive without volunteers in the community and it shows the sense of community spirit that there is towards the Simon Community. People gave up their day and came here to Oriel Park and thought of us throughout the cold weather.
“They came out in their own time and cleared the pitch. I was talking to a couple of volunteers and they said that they couldn’t move on Monday – it was the best exercise that they ever got.
“We are eternally grateful to the volunteers who helped with this and all the volunteers who have ever helped the Simon Community.
“We are not very well funded so we have to raise a lot of our own money through donations and the likes of Dundalk Football Club and other community groups that help us.
“The money raised will go and help extend out weekend services, we would like to be available to homeless people as much as we can be with our limited resources – so we are very happy with the money and we are absolutely chuffed to bits that the new owners of Dundalk FC have seen the importance of the work of Dundalk Simon Community, and have doubled the money.
“We are really, really appreciative of the money raised for us.”
