U17s | MUCFP 3-3 DFC

Match Report
// 12 Aug 2017

Our U17s travelled west to take on neighbours Monaghan United Cavan Football Partnership at Gortakeegan on Saturday afternoon and grabbed a late equaliser to earn a point following a 3-3 draw.

The home side took an early lead when a diagonal ball from defence was controlled by the centre forward who found his strike partner and his shot beat David Odumsu to open the scoring. The young Lilywhites came back strongly and found an equaliser through Daniel Bogdanov following some excellent link up play with Peter Shields who had seen his initial effort saved.

The home side burst out of the blocks and powered into a 3-1 lead. Once more it was their centre forward who was heavily involved, latching onto a long ball forward before flicking it over the defender’s head and volleying to the net. This lead was extended further as an inswinging corner found an unmarked head which put The Partnership two goals ahead.

Liam Burns’ men pegged the deficit back to one with five minutes remaining as Daniel Bogdanov held up the ball before laying it off to the onrushing Jamie Wynne whose left footed effort found the top corner of the net.

In the fourth minute of injury time the comeback was complete as rampaging right back Neil Kerr saw his shot crash off the crossbar and land at the feet of Bogdanov who calmly placed the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the net to earn a point for his side.

It wasn’t a vintage display from the Louth men as they struggled to show the same level of fluency as in recent games, however they showed great battling qualities to rescue a point from the jaws of defeat.
