Brandywell to host 2019 EA Sports Cup final
The EA Sports Cup final between Dundalk FC and Derry City FC will take place at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium in Derry on Saturday 14 September. Kick-off will be at 8pm.
A draw for home advantage in the final took place at the FAI’s headquarters in Abbotstown today and Dundalk were drawn as the away side.
The Lilywhites reached the final with an emphatic 6-1 win over Bohemian FC at Oriel Park last night, helped in no small part by a four-goal haul from striker Patrick Hoban. They will now go on to contest a third final in six years, defeating Shamrock Rovers in the previous two – at Oriel Park in 2014 and at Tallaght Stadium in 2017.
Reigning EA Sports Cup winners Derry City reached this year’s final with a 4-2 extra time victory over Waterford on 5 August, courtesy of a four-goal haul from striker David Parkhouse.
The Candystripes also hosted the 2018 EA Sports Cup final, where they defeated Cobh Ramblers 3-1 in the final.
As a result of Dundalk’s appearance in this year’s EA Sports Cup final, the SSE Airtricity League game with Shamrock Rovers, scheduled for Friday 13 September, will now be played at a later date. Keep an eye on dundalkfc.com and our social media channels for confirmation of all rearranged fixtures.
