Cleary Ready To Bounce Back
Dundalk centre-half Daniel Cleary reflected on what was a ‘disappointing week’ but told dundalkfc.com that the side are intent on getting back to business.
“We are all disappointed over the last week. We have to kick on and push on for the rest of the season. We have had a bad few days. We have had a couple of bad results but we want to rebound from those and get ourselves back on track.
“We are coming into the main part of the season now and we are looking forward to it. We want to win everything and we are going to get ourselves right for the end part of the campaign.”
The Lilywhites crashed out of the EA SPORTS Cup on Monday evening at St. Colman’s Park to Cobh Ramblers and Cleary offered no excuses for the defeat.
“Cobh played well on Monday. They played well and stuck it to us. We should have been more on our toes but they deserved it. They played well and our performance wasn’t good enough. We know that we have to be better and we know that we have to do better.
“We want to do better. We are a better side than we have shown and we wanted to get to the final. We wanted to get to a final here and perform but we weren’t able to do that and it was disappointing to lose.”
Dundalk face the same opposition on Friday evening this time at Oriel Park and the Dubliner knows what to expect from the visitors however feels it is the ‘perfect opportunity’ to right the wrongs from the past seven days.
“We have a chance to put everything right in the game on Friday. We know what to expect from Cobh and they are a hungry side so we know they will be that again. We want to go and win everything that we are left in from here on in.
“We want to put things right from Monday and this is the perfect opportunity for us to do that. We want to go and put in a good performance at home. The FAI Cup is important to us and we want to win it. We want to win everything and hopefully we can get through to the next round and get a good win tonight.”
