Dundalk FC Ladies 0-1 Kingscourt Harps

NEFL League Cup Quarter Final

Dundalk FC Ladies made their exit from the NEFL League Cup on Monday night when they hosted Kingscourt Harps at Oriel Park.

The Lilywhites came into the game a few players short of a full-strength team, due to a couple of injuries to key players.

The game began at a high tempo, which was maintained by both teams for the duration of the game. Both sides gave their all in the first period, without creating any major goalscoring opportunities.

The second half began at a similar pace to the first, with both sides creating good opportunities, but it was Kingscourt who found the breakthrough in the 65th minute.

Dundalk continued to push forward in search of a winner, but they couldn’t find that elusive equaliser, despite their best efforts, as they exited the cup at the quarter-final stage.

It was a disappointing result for the Lilywhites but it was also a performance to be proud of after giving their all throughout the tie.

Up next for Eddie Conroy’s side is a derby game with Drogheda in the NEFL Women’s Division North next Monday, September 13th.
