Dundalk Win Louth Business Award
The Louth Business Awards were held on Saturday evening and Dundalk Football Club were delighted to win our category.
We were awarded The Best Digital Marketing/Social Media Campaign gong for our initiative for Temple Street Children’s Hospital.
The campaign was launched back in March in the form of a purple kit – the colours of Temple Street Foundation – has been worn for Dundalk’s EA Sports Cup and FAI Cup matches this season, after main sponsors Fyffes agreed to withhold its logo from the front of the new kit in order to give full prominence to the hospital.
For each goal that we had scored throughout the competitions we donated €100 to Temple Street and overall fundraising saw us raise over €7,000 for the charity.
The social media campaign saw us were the jersey with sales from the kit going to the donation, encouraged people to donate separately and as well as that each player has donated a portion of their wage also.
Dundalk FC chief executive Mark Devlin said: “We are delighted to have won this award and for such a worthy initiative to be recognized in this way. I would like to thank our partners at Fyffes and CX Sport for their assistance and support, along with the players who have been first-class in their support of the initiative and Temple Street as a charity.
“Of course, our thanks also to our supporters who have purchased the special Temple Street Shirt and donated to the cause. With an FAI Cup Final appearance still to come, I really hope we can continue to raise even more money.”
