A native of Gormanston in Co Meath, Greg Sloggett began his career with UCD where he first played with the U19 side before breaking into the first team during the 2014 campaign.

He made four appearances that season as UCD were relegated to the first division, but after recovering from an injury which restricted him to just five appearances in 2015, he became a key part of the Students’ midfield as they finished fourth in 2016.

Sloggett went on to make 76 appearances during his five-year spell at Belfield which was capped off with the first division title in his final campaign with the club in 2018.

The classy midfielder joined Derry City for the 2019 season and was a regular in Declan Devine’s midfield, making 37 appearances in all competitions as the Candystripes finished fourth in the Premier Division.

He was Dundalk’s first signing ahead of the 2020 season and made 14 league appearances in the shortened 18-game campaign. He became a fixture in the side towards the end of the season, playing in five of the club’s six UEFA Europa League group games, as well as starting the FAI Cup final win over Shamrock Rovers.
