The attacking midfielder, who played over 100 games for Watford in the Championship, signed a new contract with the Lilywhites prior to the 2021 SSE Airtricity League season.
After leaving Vicarage Road in 2015, Murray had spells at Wigan Athletic, Swindon Town and Colchester United before moving to the Danish Premier League where he made 11 appearances for Vejle Boldklub. He signed a three-year deal with Vejle but the club agreed to terminate his contract after he expressed a wish to return closer to home.
Murray arrived at Oriel Park shortly after, making an eye-catching debut for the club in the 2019 Malone Cup, and went on to win a clean sweep of domestic honours in his first two seasons at the club. In 2020, he played an instrumental part in Dundalk’s UEFA Europa League run, scoring in three consecutive games against Sheriff Tiraspol, KI Klaksviks and Molde.
Capped for the Republic of Ireland up to U21 level, he was named as the FAI’s U21 International Player of the Year in 2014.
