Dates have been set for Dundalk FC’s forthcoming fixtures in the third round of UEFA competition, with our domestic fixtures with both Sligo Rovers and Bohemians this bank holiday weekend postponed as a result.
The SSE Airtricity League fixture with Sligo at The Showgrounds – originally scheduled for Saturday 3 August – and the EA Sports cup semi-final with Bohs – originally scheduled for Monday 5 August – will both now be played at a later date.
Dundalk travel to Baku today to take on Azerbaijani champions Qarabag in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round second leg on Wednesday night, with the tie delicately poised at 1-1 after the first leg at Oriel Park last week.
Whatever the result in Azerbaijan, the Lilywhites will be playing away from home in European competition next week.
Were we to beat Qarabag on Wednesday, we will travel to play either Cypriot champions APOEL FC or FK Sutjeska of Montenegro in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday 6 August.
If we play APOEL FC, kick-off at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia will be at 20:00 local time (18:00 IST). If our opponents are FK Sutjeska, kick off at the Gradski Stadion in Niksic will be 20:15 local time (19:15 IST).
Were Dundalk to lose to Qarabag we would drop into the third round of the UEFA Europa League, where we would face either Slovakian champions Slovan Bratislava or Feronikeli of Kosovo.
If we face Slovan Bratislava, the game will take place on Wednesday 7 August at the Tehelne Pole stadium in Bratislava. Kick-off time will be 20:15 local time (19:15 IST).
If we are to face Feronikeli, the game will take place on Thursday 8 August at the Rexhep Rexhepi Stadium in Glogovac. Kick-off time is yet to be confirmed.
Whoever our opponents are, our third round second leg tie – in either competition – will take place on Tuesday 13 August at Tallaght Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 20:00.
This fixture is confirmed for the Tuesday to avoid a clash with the UEFA Super Cup the following night and a potential clash with Shamrock Rovers, who will be playing in Tallaght Stadium on Thursday 15 August if they progress to the third round of the UEFA Europa League.
As always, details of all fixtures, both domestic and European, will be announced here on dundalkfc.com and via our usual social channels once confirmed.
