United FC U16 Girls 1-2 Dundalk FC U16 Girls

Metropolitan Girls League U16 Premier

Goals from Sophie Hanlon and Jennifer Freeman secured a 2-1 win for Dundalk U16 Girls in their return to league action on Sunday morning.

The Lilywhites started the game well and almost took the lead in the opening minute of the game through an effort from Molly Williams.

The game settled down after the early chance and the first half was centred around the midfield battle as both teams battled for the ball, with Dundalk shading the possession for the majority of the first half.

Bernard Freeman’s side made their possession count just after the half hour mark, when Jennifer Freeman’s corner was met by the head of Sophie Hanlon.

Dundalk and United continued to battle for possession as the second half began, and United took advantage in the early minutes to draw level.

There were chances for both sides as the half went on and they continued to battle for possession throughout. The visitors began to take more control as the half went on, and they made it count in the 75th minute, when Jennifer Freeman reacted quickest to get to the rebound of Molly Williams’ shot to hammer home and secure all three points for the Lilywhites in their return to league action.
