Gannon: Ready To Go
Dundalk full-back Sean Gannon admitted it was ‘great to be back’ after the third day of pre-season on Tuesday. Speaking to dundalkfc.com after training, he feels the mood has been good within the camp.
“It’s great to be back. We had our break which was good too but we are happy to be back in now. The hard work starts now and it has been good so far.
“There has been a great attitude since we came back in, the mood has been good in training and we are looking forward to the rest of pre-season.”
This is a time of fitness building but the Dublin native is looking forward to the friendly matches beginning towards the end of the month.
“We have a little while until the friendlies and the next few weeks are about getting mileage in the legs. We are working on different things at the moment in training.
“When the friendlies start again it’ll feel like we are right back into it then. It won’t be long until the season gets going and we that is what we are building towards. “
The 27 year-old believes that the off season break came at the right time for the squad and now everyone is ‘ready to go’ after the rest.
The break we had was perfect for us. We were back in after a few weeks in December for a couple of sessions but we had been doing our own work too.
It was a tough season last year, it was very demanding on us with so many games but we enjoyed it and want that again.
The new lads who have come in have real quality and they have hit the ground running as well as the young lads who are in. We have recharged the batteries and we are ready to go.
