Gill Delighted With ‘Professional’ Display
Dundalk First Team Coach John Gill was full of praise for their performance and win over Finn Harps on Saturday evening. Speaking to dundalkfc.com after the 3-0 win, Gill feels it was a ‘professional’ display from the champions.
“It was a very professional performance from us in Ballybofey. We rotated the squad and took some players back in and everyone played well.
“We have made changes throughout the season but the players deserve great credit and their application has been first class.
“It was a deserved victory for us, we maybe could have had a couple more but it was a good night for us all round.”
Gill heaped more praise on the squad and believes that the panel are ‘in a good place’ heading into the midseason break.
“Winning breeds confidence, they are a magnificent bunch and we have been in a brilliant run of form recently.
“We are on an incredible run at the moment, I feel we can get better and we want to kick on. We have a big month ahead of us.
“We are pleased with how we have performed over the past few weeks and we are in a very good place at the moment. “
The champions now enter the midseason break, a week earlier than anticipated due to our match next Friday against UCD being called off because of international call ups, however the Dublin native is looking forward to the break with a busy schedule ahead.
“We have no game next week but we will work very hard next week in training and it will give us a chance to do some fitness work.
“We wanted to play next week but the players will have a few days off and we are focused now on the second half of the season. We will have everyone back after the break too.
“We are looking forward to the second half of the season and we are looking to kick on.”
