Our U16 girls’ team got their new Metropolitan Girls League season off to a brilliant start with a 3-1 win away to Kilnamanagh on Sunday.

Matthew Freeman took charge for the team’s first game of the new campaign and had his squad well organised against a physical home side.

Dundalk dominated from start to finish and were good value for their 2-1 lead at the break with Niamh Norton and Caitlin O’Donoghue on target.

The Lilywhites held their shape in the second half and controlled proceedings with O’Donoghue adding a second to secure a fantastic opening day win.

The girls have no game next week but three Dundalk players will be on international duty.

Laura Fanning is away to Wales with the Republic of Ireland U16s while Niamh Norton and Robyn Shanley will be part of an U15 training camp in Abbotstown.

U17 // Dundalk FC 4-0 Peamount United

Our U17 Women’s National League team continue to improve week by week and they produced one of their best displays of the season to beat Peamount United on Saturday.

Clara Whyte, Grace Kelly, Zara Farrell and Ellie Smyth got the goals for Jason McConville’s side at Oriel Park.

The result extends Dundalk’s unbeaten run to eight games and leaves them six points behind league leaders Shamrock Rovers, albeit with a game in hand.
