Dundalk defender Sean Hoare has been named SSE Airtricity/SWAI Player of the Month for May.

The centre-half has had a superb month featuring in all of our league games and has been a converted right back in Sean Gannon’s absence through injury.

It is the first time the 24 year-old has won the award and it caps off a good couple of weeks for the Lilywhite as he netted his first league goal against Bohemians and penned a new 2 year contract.

Speaking after receiving the award the Dubliner was understandably pleased to pick up the gong and feels he has established himself in the side in 2018.

‘It’s not really a regular occurrence for a defender to win so it’s a good achievement.

‘Last year was a bit of a transition for me, I knew it was going to be tough coming to Dundalk and with the success they had I knew I was never going to walk straight into the team.

‘It was tough, I had a few niggling injuries but this year I’ve established myself in the team and when I’m fit I’m playing. That’s all you want and for a team like Dundalk it’s great.’
