Kelly Intent On Keeping Momentum Going

First Team News

Daniel Kelly feels that last week’s win over Sligo Rovers. was helped by breaking the deadlock early in the game. Speaking to dundalkfc.com Kelly had a word of praise for John Mountney who netted a hat-trick on the night.

“It was a great win because we knew Sligo were on a good run and they took a draw off us at the start of the season here in Oriel too, so it was going be tough game.

“Thankfully we got an early goal which helped us kick on from that and we kept a clean sheet too which is always good so all in all it was a good night for us, especially John Mountney with his hat-trick.”

The winger is pleased with the current form of the side and is intent on keeping that momentum going into the midseason break.

“It’s very important I think as we have been working so hard the last few weeks on and off the pitch.

“I think we’ve been showing that, so we need to keep the momentum up and stay focused even though we won’t have a game for a couple of weeks.”

The Dublin native is expecting a difficult game in Finn Park and knows their threats however he is targeting another three points on the road.

“Hopefully we can keep our good run going but we know what Finn Harps are like. It won’t be an easy game, they’re a big side and they are very dangerous from set pieces and throw ins as we know.

“Hopefully we get an early goal and kick on from that and leave with 3 points.”
