Kelly: Looking Forward
Dundalk FC completed the second day of pre-season training on Monday and when speaking with dundalkfc.com, Georgie Kelly said: ‘we’re two days in and it’s been tough.”
“I’m sure it’ll only get tougher too. I’m really looking forward to getting into shape and getting ready for the new season.
“There’s a lot more emphasise on work rate and intensity rather than quality on the ball. It’ll be another week or so before that side of it comes into play.
The Donegal native joined the club in June from UCD and feels that the competitiveness between the players is one of the main differences between pre-season at Oriel Park and with the Students.
“UCD is the only other club I’ve done a full pre-season with, the main difference is the competitiveness between players here. Everyone pushes each other to be better and to challenge themselves as much as they can.
The 22-year-old striker has set his sights on more silverware in 2019 and aims to score more goals and have an impact in the new campaign.
“Personally, I just hope to have an impact and score important goals. As a team, after the success of last season I think the treble is what we have to be aiming for. A run in Europe is always another aim for everyone in the camp. So we’re just looking forward to it now.”
