Lilywhites To Begin European Campaign On August 18th/19th
The UEFA Executive Committee has confirmed that Dundalk FC’s 2020/2021 European campaign will begin in the Champions League on August 18th/19th.
The dates were confirmed at a press conference at UEFA HQ in Nyon on Wednesday afternoon where it was also announced that the qualifying rounds will be played over one leg with the first team drawn out of the hat given home advantage.
If Vinny Perth’s side progress past the first round, the second qualifying round will be played on August 25th/26th with the third qualifying round set for September 15th/16th. The Champions League play-off round will revert to the traditional home and away format on September 22nd/23rd and 29th/30th.
Should the Lilywhites be eliminated from the Champions League, they will enter the Europa League. The second and third qualifying round will take place on September 17th and 24th respectively while the one-legged play-off round is scheduled for October 1st.
A date for the qualifying round draw has yet to be confirmed but it’s expected to take place in early August.
