Drogheda got off to the perfect start to the game, taking the lead just two minutes in from a corner kick.

Dundalk soon grew into the game and began to take full control, opening their opponents up and creating numerous chances in the early minutes.

The Lilywhites finally found their equaliser on the half hour mark, with Niko Lovrenkovic providing a quality finish to draw his side level.

Simon Kelly’s side continued their fine form as the second half began, and they made their dominance count as they scored twice in the first five minutes of the second period. Conall Alfred scored to give his side the lead before Niko Lovrenkovic added Dundalk’s third just minutes later.

Dundalk continued to dominate proceedings and they soon bagged a fourth, when a brilliant passing move ended up with Lovrenkovic, who made no mistake in completing an excellent hat-trick.

Runako Sweetman added a fifth before scoring a second late on, as he provided a fantastic header to finish Cian Murphy’s cross and wrap up the scoring for the Lilywhites.

The win sees Dundalk continue their unbeaten start to phase two of the season, winning two of their three games to date. Up next for the U14s is a meeting with Cavan-Monaghan at Oriel Park next Saturday, September 18th at 2pm.
