McGrath Looking Forward To Return
Dundalk midfielder Jamie McGrath now will be ready for a return after the midseason break in two weeks time. Speaking to dundalkfc.com about the injury, McGrath is ahead of schedule and offered a word of thanks for the medical team.
“I’m feeling good now. It’s been 5 weeks and I’m back jogging so I’m ahead of schedule. It’s great to be back out on the pitch after a good while out so I’m delighted with the progress.
“I’ve just tried to remain as positive as possible with the setback. It’s part and parcel of the game and I had Robbie Benson and Seán Murray with me so just tried to keep the head up. Danny Miller and David Murphy have made the journey back a lot easier and quicker with their rehab sessions and cardio sessions but I cannot wait to get out of them to be honest!
“But they have been great past month or so and can only thank them.”
The 22 year-old feels he has got himself as fit as he could and is looking forward to helping the team in whatever way he can, with Europe just around the corner.
“My target once I got injured was to be back for the game before the break which was probably unrealistic at the time but I’ve made it back onto the pitch this week so I was delighted about that.
“The main target for me is to get back as fit as possible and hopefully be back to help the team for the Rovers game after the break and obviously going into Europe. At the minute I just can’t wait to get back into full training.
The Athboy native has been looking on as the champions moved to the top of the table and he is delighted with where the side are placed going into the second half of the season, with the aim to continue it all after the break.
“We are flying recently, having won 7 games on the bounce and unbeaten in 13, so it’s great to see the lads putting in performances week in week out to see us back at the top of the league heading into the break.”
“Obviously it’s only half way through the season but it’s a nice place to be all the same and hopefully we can continue the form coming into the second half.”
