O’Keeffe: Confidence Is High
Dundalk FC Under-19s take on UCD in the Enda McGuill Cup final at the UCD Bowl on Thursday with kick-off at 7.30pm.
The young Lilywhites secured their place in the final with a 4-1 victory away to Cobh Ramblers. Under-19 sharpshooter Jack O’Keeffe, shared his thoughts with dundalkfc.com on what he expects from the final.
“Confidence is high within the group. Both teams like to play good football and play the ball out from the back and look to go through the middle,” said the striker.
“UCD are top or thereabouts in the Southern Division and it should be a good game, I’m looking forward to it.”
O’Keeffe scored a superb goal at St. Colman’s Park to help his side book their place in the final for the first time since 2012 when they were defeated 3-2 by Cork City FC at Oriel Park.
“We’ll see where the game take us,” he added when asked if he can replicate it again. “Against Cobh the ball came over the top and I looked around to see three defenders behind me and thought why not. Confidence was high so I had a shot and it went in – we’ll see what happens on Thursday.
“As I said, I see both teams playing the ball out from the back and I expect a good game of football. The two teams will be looking to press high and get the ball back and hopefully it works to our advantage.”
