Open Letter from Dundalk Football Club

Club News
// 5 Nov 2012

Following Friday night’s dramatic win in Waterford that secured our place in the Premier Division for the 2013 season, Dundalk Football Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters and sponsors for sticking with the club throughout a very difficult campaign.

Congratulations to Darius Kierans, his staff and the players for successfully avoiding relegation. For quite some time Premier Division survival has been our sole objective and it was clear for some time that a play-off would be required. The team showed a lot of character and determination to overcome the considerable challenge of Waterford United.

We would also like to offer our commiserations to Waterford United. It is clear that Waterford United would be an asset to the Premier Division. We hope that they are able to meet this objective as soon as possible.

Dundalk Football Club has had the benefit of the support of some magnificent sponsors this year. Many thanks to Fyffes, Total Produce, the Crowne Plaza Hotel and everybody else who has sponsored matches, pitch signs and programme advertisements during the season.

This season the club has benefited from the work of many volunteers who have helped the club survive a very dark and difficult period. Our survival is dedicated to all of you who helped organise and supported the many fundraisers held throughout the year from the Lotto sellers, Dundalk v Tommy McConville Selection match organisers, Patron Scheme/Friends of Dundalk members, Quiz Nights, the Project Oriel Fundraiser, Bag Packing, Auctions, Programme Sales, Shop workers, Comedy Night, Raffles and all the other fundraising initiatives that was organised to help raise badly needed funds.

We are also very grateful to the work of everybody involved in our Youth Development system and to the Dundalk Schoolboys League. A lot of young players have made a big contribution to the season. It was a baptism of fire that hopefully will benefit their development in the long-term.

Most of all, we would like to thank all the loyal Dundalk FC supporters who stuck with the team through thick and thin despite a very poor season. Your support was truly appreciated and we hope you will stick with us as we get to work on ensuring a brighter future.

The takeover process is still on-going at present. However, the work of preparing for the 2013 season has already begun. Expect a busy off-season! We will have further information on developments at the club in the near future.
