Oriel Direct – Message To All Supporters!
Dundalk Football Club would like to thank everybody who has contributed and assisted the club over the past number of months. It has been a difficult year for our club. But we remain hopeful that the conclusion to the season will be successful.
Our recent league form has been disappointing and we face a challenge to retain our Premier Division status. Thankfully, we have the advantage of a united football club. We are fully behind Darius and the players as we enter the final weeks of the season. We see at close quarters how hard they work in training and the professional approach that Darius and his team place into preparing for each match. Yesterday, club officials met with Darius to offer support and assistance. Obviously, it is not possible to boost the playing squad at this point but we were happy with the positivity of the meeting and the ideas that were exchanged at how we can collectively boost morale in the final weeks of the season.
The takeover process is progressing positively. Everybody involved in the process is working hard at resolving the legal issues that remain. At the moment it is being left with our solicitors to resolve any remaining matters. Financially, the club remains in a difficult position at present although the situation has stabilised.
The team face two vital league matches in the next week away to Shamrock Rovers and Derry City. Premier Division survival is our priority. Then, we have our big FAI Ford Cup semi-final against St Patrick’s Athletic on Sunday October 7th at 3.55pm in Oriel Park. As a club, we have all had a challenging season this year so let’s make the most of this occasion and get right behind Darius and the players. This will be a one-off match and an opportunity for the club to get to our first FAI Cup Final in ten years.
We would ask all Dundalk supporters to buy their tickets for the game and encourage family and friends to attend the match also to support the club. To get to the Cup Final would be a major boost to the community so we hope that the whole town gets behind us.
Again, many thanks to everybody who has supported the club this season and we hope you can maintain your support over the final weeks of the season!
