Patching | Good To Be Back
Dundalk returned to pre-season training on Monday morning ahead of another exciting SSE Airtricity League campaign.
The champions were put through their paces by the fitness team with a range of tests for each member of the squad on what was their first day back in 2020.
One of the new faces enduring their first sessions with the club is midfielder Will Patching and he spoke to dundalkfc.com reflecting on how he has settled in since joining in November.
“It has been great so far. The lads and the staff have made me feel really welcome so that part has been easy.
“It feels good go be back after Christmas. I couldn’t wait to get back into the routine, I had a good break so I was ready to get back to it and kick on for the new season.”
The first day of the pre-season schedule is often tough for the players however there is much variety and that is something welcomed by the players.
It is a packed itinerary with a number of friendlies and a training camp in Spain lined up ahead of the league campaign.
Patching admitted that it was good to mix it up and is looking forward to the hard work over the next few weeks as we look to hit the ground running against Derry City on February 14th.
“I think all first days of pre-season are pretty similar in one way or another. It is mainly just testing and stuff but we got a bit of ball work in which was good and some running too.
“Hopefully the balls come out more and more as we go on, but we know we need to work hard and do what is set to get to where we want to get to, and achieve the things we are aiming for.”
