Biography

Ruaidhri began playing football with his local side Newtown YFC before attracting the attention of Coventry City in 1998 where he would remain until 2004.

His return to Ireland saw him don the red and white candy-striped jersey of Derry City where he would collect an FAI medal and no less than four League Cup medals until 2009 when he would make a switch to the Bohemian squad for the 2010 season.

That season Bohs lost the title on goal-difference but Higgins still collected a Setanta Cup medal. He fell out of favour toward the end of the season and was not a guaranteed starter what was then Pat Fenlon’s squad. In this context he re-signed for Derry City which, for the second time, was being managed by Stephen Kenny.
His release by Derry at the end of last season opened up his passage to sign for the Lilywhites and to play under Stephen Kenny for a third time in his career.
