Quigley “Really Enjoying” Byrne Company / Kierans Reacts
Dundalk FC goal machine Mark Quigley says that he is “really enjoying” playing up front with Jason Byrne, and the in-form striker is hopeful that he can continue his hot scoring streak.
The 25-year-old, who made the move to Oriel Park from Bohemians along with Byrne over the winter, brought his tally to eight goals in 11 competitive outings for the club with two magnificent strikes against Cliftonville on Monday night, which followed hot on the heels of three of his goals making the shortlist for MNS Goal of the Month.
Commenting on the performance in Solitude, the Dubliner admitted that the first-half display was “sluggish”, but overall felt his side “deserved” the win.

Meanwhile, assistant manager Darius Kierans feels that his side “did not realise they were playing in the semi-final of a cup until half-time”, but he was pleased with the “positive reaction” that the players showed in the second half.
The 31-year-old went on to say that they would be “taking nothing for granted” and “treating Cliftonville with caution” when the Reds come to Oriel Park in a fortnight’s time, with the former Drogheda United boss aware that the “overall performance needs to be better”.
Kierans also praised the contribution of Quigley, stating “when you have someone like that in the team you have always a chance of winning games”.
