// 4 Oct 2018

Dundalk FC are delighted to announce that goalkeeper Gary Rogers has signed a new deal at the Club.

The netminder joined the Club ahead of the 2015 season and has had phenomenal success at Oriel. Rogers has won 2 league titles, the FAI Cup and an EA SPORTS Cup during his time so far at the club and was a mainstay in our UEFA Europa League campaign in 2016.

The 37 year-old has been in fine form this season and has 28 clean sheets so far in 2018.

Speaking to dundalkfc.com after putting pen-to-paper on a fresh one year deal, he was understandable pleased to sign on again for 2019.

“I am delighted to get the deal done. I have been here four years now and it has been great. I am delighted to be staying on again.

“All in all I am very happy. It was an easy decision to stay. The way things have been going here it has been great and you’d be hopeful that will continue.

“I am delighted to be part of that future here.”

The Meath native has indeed enjoyed huge success at the Club since he signed in 2014 and he is hoping for more success with a third title within touching distance.

“You are hoping that you will win trophies when you sign and the Club had won the league the previous year. We have been in contention every year so far. We were disappointed last year.

“We are in a good place at the moment. We have a Cup final to look forward to. I’d fancy us to get a point from our last four games. It is within reach now the title.

“We have a good game tomorrow and we want to get across that finish line. Looking ahead we don’t know our opponents in the final but it’s great to have that to look forward to. “

Chief Executive Mal Brannigan added: “The board are delighted to be able to offer Gary an extension on his current contract which he has willingly accepted. It is just reward for the amount of work that he has put in over the previous year as part of a very successful team that is coming to the conclusion of its season. Hopefully we will have success in the bag by the end of it and Gary has been an integral part of that.”
