Sam Byrne Signs
Dundalk FC are pleased to announce the signing of Sam Byrne, an Ireland U-21 international, on loan from Everton.
The striker joins until July 2018 and the move is subject to international clearance.
The Dublin native joined Manchester United in 2011 from St. Kevin’s Boys and remained there until 2014 when he joined his current club Everton. He had a spell on loan in League One with Carlisle United before he left United also.
The 22 year-old has yet to feature for the Everton first team however has represented the Republic of Ireland from every age from U-15-U-21 accumulating a total of 44 caps in total.
Byrne told dundalkfc.com that he “felt great and is looking forward to getting started” after signing the deal.
“Stephen Kenny got in touch with me and I was interested so it all really started from there. I’m looking forward to getting games, it’s been tough since my injury so hopefully I can get a few games under my belt and score a few goals.
“I was aware of Dundalk FC when I was playing with Everton FC, I think everyone has been aware of Dundalk over the last couple of years.
“Winning league titles and playing in Europe is a massive part of me signing at Oriel Park and I would love to be a part of that so hopefully I will be.
“It’s been good here so far. All the lads are really helpful with me and I’ve settled in well.”
