Santa kicks off Christmas season at Oriel Park
Santa made a special guest appearance at Oriel Park this morning as the Dundalk FC club shop opened its doors for the festive season and the new 2020 Umbro kit range went on sale.
Head coach Vinny Perth and his son Killian cut the ribbon to officially open the club shop, as the waiting crowds were allowed in to get their hands on the new Umbro jersey and range of training wear.
Club captain Brian Gartland, Sean Hoare and John Mountney got to try on the club’s new Umbro range for the first time, as they signed autographs and mingled with supporters, who were also able to get their photos taken with Dundalk’s 2019 trophy haul.
After making their first purchase of the new gear, supporters headed through to the Lilywhite Lounge and were delighted to get their hands on the trophies and chat to the players as they posed for photos.
“It’s been a good morning. There were big queues outside Oriel when we came out. We followed Santa out the doors and there was a good buzz for the opening of the shop, then we were here in the Lilywhite afterwards for anyone who wanted pictures with the trophies and that. It’s been a great morning,” said Gartland.
“I’m delighted with the gear. It’s the first time myself seeing it. With the jersey there were obviously some different opinions at the start, but a lot of people here today are saying it looks well on. The training leggings and stuff like that, it’s nice gear and the feedback from people today has been good.
“It’s great to get a bit of a buzz going with the event here today. It gets everyone in the mood for Christmas coming up and it’s good for the shop to have all the gear and everything out in plenty of time for Christmas.”
The Club shop is open every day between now and Christmas Eve – for more details, check out our Christmas opening hours.
