Signing: Coughlan Pens One-Year Deal at Dundalk
Dundalk FC are delighted to announce the signing of versatile winger Gareth Coughlan.
The former Bray Wanderers and Saint Patrick’s Athletic man agreed a one-year deal at Oriel Park on Friday.
Coughlan, 22, made his debut for Bray in 2008, and during his time at the Carlisle Grounds played alongside Derek Foran, Chris Shields and Shane O’Neill, who are all part of Seán McCaffrey’s new-look squad at Dundalk.
The Dubliner had joined the Seagulls from Lourdes Celtic.
Ahead of the 2010 season, Coughlan signed for St. Pat’s. However, the following May, he suffered a double fracture to his right leg while playing against Bohemians.
He returned to Richmond Park last year and was named on the bench when Dundalk visited the Inchicore venue in July, while he featured in a number of the Saints’ A-Championship games over the following five weeks.
In September, he signed for Sacred Heart in the Leinster Senior League.
Gareth’s career profile can be read here.
Coughlan brings the squad at Oriel Park to 13, with the ex-Bray quartet adding to Peter Cherrie, Ger Hanley, Eoghan Osborne, Liam Burns, Nathan Murphy, John Mountney, Stephen McDonnell, Mark Griffin and Gary Shanahan.
Dundalk supporters get their first chance to see the side in action on Saturday afternoon when they take on IFA Championship 1 club Banbridge Town at Crystal Park, kick-off 2pm.
