Dundalk FC head coach Vinny Perth was a happy man after watching his side’s 4-1 win over Sligo Rovers at Oriel Park on Friday night.

Sean Murray’s first-half brace, coupled with a second-half double from Patrick Hoban, was enough to end Dundalk’s 69-day wait for a league victory.

“We ran out as worthy winners tonight,” said Perth. “It was a really strong performance. The fitness levels and the desire the players showed tonight was outstanding because we’ve had so many games.

“It was led by Patrick Hoban again but Daniel Cleary got off his sickbed and was also outstanding. It was a strong performance and it’s something again for us to build on.”

Perth was also full of praise for Lilywhites strength and conditioning coach, Graham Norton after his side showed no ill effects of going the distance with Finn Harps just 72 hours earlier.

“Graham is out sick out the moment but he deserves real credit for that performance tonight,” said Perth. “The work he has been doing over the past couple of months with these guys is really paying off.”
