Summer Camp Meet & Greet
The Dundalk FC Summer Camp in conjunction with our Community Partner, Dundalk Credit Union, took place this week.
Over 90 children aged between 6-14 years old participated in the five day fun filled camp at Oriel Park. First team players, Michael Duffy, Dean Jarvis and Georgie Kelly stopped by for a meet and greet session on Wednesday.
The camp gave children the chance to take part in physical activities during the summer holidays and spend time practicing their football skills. It also gave them to the opportunity to socialise with friends, and even interact and work together with new people from different schools or football teams.
The three first-team players signed a number of autographs and posed for pictures with the children.
Speaking after the event, 24-year-old Duffy said: It’s class coming to these camps. Every time I have come it has been packed and the amount of kids that turn up is brilliant for the Club.”
Twenty six year-old Jarvis, said: “It’s great to be involved with day’s like today and to see so many kids turn up for autographs and pictures.
“You can tell that they are happy to see us as they start shouting our names when they seen us so it’s great to be here and give a little bit back to the community.”
Kelly added: “I took part in one of these sessions a couple of weeks ago and it was great. There is a over a hundred kids there looking to get autographs signed and pictures.
“It’s brilliant to see the impact the Club has on the community – I’ve never seen anything like this before so it’s brilliant to see so many kids involved.
Dundalk FC Community Officer, Liam Burns, concluded by saying: “It’s great to have the players coming in mixing with the community and the supporters, especially the younger supporters who look up to them and aspire to play football themselves one day.
“It was also good to have our Community Partner Dundalk Credit Union on board for this summer camp as their backing has been brilliant for the Club.”
