Dundalk FC U17 0-0 Bohemians-SKB U17

EA Sports U17 National Underage League

Dundalk U17s played out a goalless draw with Bohemians-SKB U17s in a tight affair at Oriel Park on Saturday afternoon.

The game got off to a competitive start, with the Lilywhites gaining the upper hand and controlling possession in the early stages.

The first chance of the game fell to Ethan Sousa on the ten minute mark, with the winger hitting the post with a strike from the edge of the box.

Darren McGarry’s side continued to threaten throughout the half, with Anthony Moyo and Jack Watters forcing goalkeeper Reece Byrne into some good saves.

Despite the pressure being put on by the Lilywhites, Bohs held firm to go into the break on level terms.

The game began to open up as the second half began, with good opportunities arising for both sides. Craig Moore produced an excellent block to deny Bohs an opener, before Callum Bonner spurned a golden opportunity to take the lead less than ten minutes later, with Sousa also failing to convert the rebound.

The searing Saturday heat began to play a part as the minutes ticked by, with both sides getting increasingly sloppy in possession.

Dundalk’s best chance of the latter stages came with 12 minutes remaining, when Moyo went on an excellent run before passing to Thomas Galvin, who rushed his effort and dragged it wide.

Both sides pushed for a winner as the game entered its final moments, but neither team could find that elusive goal they were searching for.

The Lilywhites will have been disappointed not to win the game, having had the better of the chances, but the draw could turn out to be a valuable point come the end of the season.
