U19s | DFC 4-0 MUCFP

Match Report
// 12 Aug 2017

Our Under 19s recorded a 4-0 victory in a dominant display against Monaghan United Cavan Football Partnership at Oriel Park on Saturday afternoon with a brace of goals for Cian Flynn and one each for Jack O Keefe and Carlton Ubaezuono.

The home side came out of the traps early and, following a well worked team move, Cian Flynn engineered a fine one two before calmly dinking the ball over the advancing netminder to open the scoring for the young Lilywhites. They had a chance to extend their lead but Jack O Keefe saw his penalty well saved by Thomas Marron.

The Oriel Park side had the monopoly on possession in the first half, however the Partners almost made Dundalk pay for their failure to convert chances as they broke free following a Lilywhite corner. Matt Lyons thwarted their attack with a great save and Martin Connolly’s men preserved their lead at the half time interval.

The second period saw the home side exhibit a more clinical side to their game, starting with the free scoring O Keefe, on seventy three minutes, who scored a glancing header courtesy of the inside of the post and a sumptuous cross from Aaron Townley.

Next to hit the target was winger Ubaezuono, fresh from his second hat trick of the season last week, he poked home from close range following a goalmouth scramble to make it three goals to nil after seventy nine minutes.

The fourth goal arrived with the final whistle approaching and, once more, it was Cian Flynn with the finish from close range to record his second goal of the game and wrap up a comprehensive victory for Dundalk FC ahead of their long trip to Cobh Ramblers in the semi-finals of the Enda Mc Guill Cup later this week.
