Dundalk secured all three points at Oriel Park against Galway United, with Declan McDaid proving the hero with two late goals.

The Lilywhites proved dominant throughout the first half, creating plenty of chances without finding the breakthrough. Horgan came closest with a curling effort destined for the top corner, only for Watts to produce a fine block.

With the game scoreless at half-time, Kilduff turned to his bench, introducing Harry Groome and Declan McDaid for Bobby Burns and Eoin Kenny.

On the 81st minute, Tyreke Wilson delivered a cross from the left and McDaid was on hand to steer the ball inside the far post. Four minutes later, he doubled his tally to put the result beyond doubt.

Stephen Walsh pulled one back for the visitors in stoppage time with a bicycle kick from Twardek’s cross, but proved not enough as the Lilywhites held firm.

The win moves Dundalk up to third place in the Premier Division table.
